The chip shop ’t Kattekwaad  is located in the centre of the Great Market of Ypres.

The food stand offers a nice view on the Cloth Hall, the Belfry and other historic monuments surrounding the Great Market. This is actually the perfect starting point to take a stroll in different shopping streets and visit various museums . It’s only a three-minute walk to the Menin Gate from where you can attend the Last Post ceremony at night.

Geert Verhelst has been the proud owner of the chip shop ’t Kattekwaad for more than 17 years.

Throughout the years, he managed to transform the place into one of the biggest and most modern food stands in the region. Several prizes have already been awarded. Traditional snacks are not the only thing on the menu. The chip shop also offers steak with French fries, mussels, several pasta dishes, salads and filled sandwiches. Only fresh products are being used. A well-trained team is at your disposal day after day to offer high-quality service.

The food stand has a seated capacity of 130 and is therefore suited to welcome large groups of visitors who are interested in a quick bite or in a generous meal.
